FHSR EDUCATION COORDINATOR PROGRAM
FHSR experiences such value from our partnership with Lurie Children’s and the Hart Family Education Coordinator. As we work with families and educators they have shared their need for additional support and resources. In response, we have created the FHSR Education Coordinator Program to serve as another opportunity to support parents, educators, and caregivers of deaf and hard-of-hearing children.
If your child has hearing loss and you are in need of resources to be their best advocate, FHSR has created the Education Coordinator program specifically to support the parents, caregivers and hearing loss professionals of deaf and hard of hearing children.
The FHSR Education Coordinator will serve as a resource for parents and their children living with hearing loss to assist in the transition to school, class placement, technology, paperwork, services, and accommodations. The position will be to educate the parents / caregivers on how best to partner with their school district to assure the child’s educational needs are being met within the classroom and give any additional support including the use of hearing technology in the learning environment. The Education Coordinator can work with the families and their school team to ensure best practices around education of students with hearing loss are being followed. The FHSR Education Coordinator can also serve as a resource to professionals and their students or clients with hearing loss in the community. These services are for children with hearing loss ages birth to 22 years old. These services will be provided at no cost to the families and school partners.
If you are a parent, caregiver or hearing loss professional who needs resources on your DHH child’s best school placement, services or accommodations, the FHSR Education Coordinator is here to help you become your child’s best advocate.
